A Pair

Day #186

Today's photo challenge is Pair. I decided to retake a photo idea that I did earlier, using a pair of mirrored sunglasses, and trying to capture a picture of myself in the reflection, wearing a pair of sunglasses!

Finding a great spot, so that the background is nice, and that you can't see all the people at the park wondering around.

The trick I found was after setting up the sunglasses, making sure that my camera was not in the shot, setting up the timer on the camera, then dashing to the spot. I did a dozen shots....test shots until I found the one liked. 

A Pair

I started to wear glasses in grade 5, which was (yes it is!) a few short years ago! That is when I received my first pair of glasses, I hated the glasses, but, I was truly amazed at what I could see!

 Wearing glasses I was also teased a lot.. I  am sure you can imagine that the teasing was more like being bullied. It was hard to fit in! 

In the early 70's, I finally was allowed to pick out a pair of glasses that I liked, silver framed, as cool as John Lennon's from the Beatles! I thought I was cool, even if not one else thought I was! Even cooler my lenses would darken in sunlight and also when photo's were taken. I could finally hide behind my glasses and become invisible.

Over the years, wearing glasses became the norm, and I loved contact lenses... I could wear all sorts of cool looking sunglasses. Wearing a pair of  prescription glasses daily just became apart of who I am.

  Now due to modern medicine, and a very special man, I do not need to wear glasses or contact lenses. What a thrill to be able to see with out wearing a pair of glasses!

My family made a comment that I am always wearing a pair of sunglasses when I am having my picture taken... hmmm.. maybe its just me, hiding my true identity, like a super hero!
