Days # 100,101,102,103,104,105,106,107,108
Robert and I took a vacation to Lunenburg and Halifax NS. I had taken so many pictures, that choosing just 'one' for each day will be a challenge for me, since I want to share all the great memories and photos with you. All I can say is I shall do my best!
After 3 connecting flights from Prince George,BC to Halifax we landed, collected luggage, rental car, we headed to our first destination, Lunenburg NS. (With the help of a 'map' and 'google maps'.
We stopped at at Black Point so we could review the map and take my first photos of the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 100, First Look |
We arrived in Lunenburg, checked into our hotel called "The Rum Runner Inn", and we explored this colorful cute town. We ate sea food, went on an evening sail boat ride.
 |
View of Lunenburg |
The next morning, day 101, we woke to rain, drizzle, mist. So we headed into Mahone Bay to explore this quaint little town. Mahone Bay is also full of history, and old Victorian, Georgian, french homes. So, not sounding like a travel magazine, you really need to go there! I don't think I have the words to describe this place!
 |
The three churches at Mahone Bay |
There is an island, in the Atlantic called Oak Island. There are myths, legends, stories that pirates or Knights Templar buried treasure on this island. (Reality TV series, "Curse of Oak Island")
Our goal was to check out the Interpretive Center. We were rather pleased to meet the treasure hunters/owners of the island.
 |
Day 101, Strangers |
The next day, we had booked a kayaking trip. This trip would take us out onto the Atlantic Ocean. Which frankly, I was a wee bit nervous about. During this trip I thought about my parents on a ship, not a cruse ship, more like a cattle cargo ship, crossing the Atlantic Ocean. I could do this adventure. Blue Rocks is about a 5 min. drive from Lunenburg. I took nearly 300 pictures. The photo I chose is called "Wild" with seals on a rock and you can see the open sea.
 |
Day 102, Wild |
It was such an incredible day. We paddle through inlets, coves exploring the coast line. The day started out cloudy and ended up sunny!
 |
The view from Mountain Cove |
After 3 days and falling in love with Lunenburg NS (a new favorite city!) We drove up to Hallifax which was only a 1 hr road trip! Again the day started out to be cloudy, and by mid day the sun was shining!
We were early into Halifax, so we drove to the wharf/harbor parked our rental car and decided to check out the wharf area. There were all sorts of tours, souvenir, food shops. After lunch we went to the Maritime Museum.
After checking into our hotel we took a drive to Point Pleasant Park. The photo I chose was a memorial to the many men and women in the Army and Navy and Merchant Navy who lost their lives at sea between 1918-1945.
 |
Day 103, Structure |
The next morning we headed back to the harbor. The both of us wanting to be near water, not just for the fresh seafood, but the boats, ferry and sail.
 |
Day 104, Colorful |
These comfortable chairs were everywhere! From balconies, front doors, on the wharf! I just needed to share this photo with you.
We decided to to a sailing tour around Halifax harbor. We sailed on the Silva!
 |
Day 104, Wind |
After feeling the wind in our faces and hair, we cooled down at Pier 21 The Immigration Museum. Where we appreciated people like my mom and dad who first landed on Canadian shores! After another delicious sea food meal on the wharf, we headed back to our hotel room for a much need sleep. The next day we were being picked up for an early morning Photo tour of Peggy's Cove.
 |
The famous Light house at Peggy's Cove. |
Peggy's Cove has about 68 people living there. From making a living at fishing to the tourist trade. Even on a grey windy day, you can see beauty around you. When I was walking around, not only was I looking at that scene to get a great shot, but with my photos I am wanting to tell you the story of life here at Peggy's cove.

Day 105, Framed |
 |
Day 105, Colors |
After our Peggy's Cove Picture Perfect tour, we finished our day off with a wet walk about Halifax and a much deserved and relaxed dinner in our room, of Lobster, Atlantic salmon, salad, fresh bread and wine!
 |
Day 106 Birds Eye View |
The next day we did our own walking tour of The Public Gardens, then up to the Citadel and back down to the wharf area.
 |
Day 106, My favorite tree at the Public Garden |

|
We took the ferry across the harbor to Dartmouth where we had lunch and did a walk at one of Dartmouth's local parks.

boat tours |
Our last day in Halifax NS, we tried to see and do all the things we wanted. From taking a peek inside the doors of the Armory, eating a Lobster roll on the wharf, taking a tour at Alexander Keith's Brewery. Halifax had become another one of my favorite cities.

Day 107, Reflection |
We were all packed and up early to head out to the Halifax Airport to catch the first of our flights back home. It was a wonderful holiday, and because of that I wouldn't mind exploring more of our Maritime Provinces.
 |

We met so many great and friendly people, not just from Nova Scotia, but from Vancouver, Langley, Mackenzie BC, Calgary, Ontario, New Found Land, Louisiana, Georgia, Cleveland Ohio, Travers City Michigan and many more places. Thank you Nova Scotia for a great visit!
