What did we do this weekend?

Day #236
Yesterday we walked along the Nechako River, which is about a 5 min walk from our house. We noticed a significant drop in water levels. There are small islands in the middle of the river, and we are debating whether if we wore hip waders or rubber boots, could we make it across? Exploring an island is like exploring uncharted lands! (but we didn't do this yet!)
Today, we headed down to Cottonwood Island Park. At this point, this is approximately where the Nechako joins up with the Fraser River.
The river is very low at the CN Bridge and at Cottonwood Island, we could actually walk on the river bed.
Everyone is out walking on the river, kids, dogs, people of all ages. People are finding all sorts of items, from metal parts, tools, nuzzle of a rifle, shopping carts, garden hose, metal chair frame, and rubber tires. Most items laid at the bottom of the river for many years, and now are visible because the water levels are so very low.

In the middle photo, the water you see is the Fraser River. Bridge in the distance is the Yellowhead Bridge.

I couldn't decide on one photo, so I picked three photos. Each one describes the day in its own way. It did feel creepy, apocalyptic  being out on the river, when in the spring time we had flooding waters.

Thank you for taking a look! I hope you had a fun weekend and managed to do some exploring!

See you tomorrow!
