Nature's Cup

Day #123
I was weeding in the raspberry patch, when I noticed that the ground was covered in tiny fairy, elf sized cups. I then realized that they are actually a mushroom..the perfect size fit for a tiny being!
The Pezinaceae commonly referred to as 'Cup Fungi' are a family of fungi in the Ascomjcota which produce mushrooms that tend to grow in a shape of a 'cup'. The spores are in the 'cup' body. The cup serves do force raindrops into the cup and the spores splash out of the cup. These mushrooms grow to about 1mm to 2mm in size.

Not only was I on my hands and knees to weed, so was I when trying to take a Macro/closeup photo of my newest find!

Thank you for taking a look!

See you next time!
