Last Post, Self Portrait

Day #365

Today is March 6th 2019, I have come to the end of my 365 days of photos by Jewels. 
As I was approaching this day, I was thinking about this challenge, what I have done, accomplished. Then I needed to take that one last photo.... that maybe it tells you a story or shares an emotion.

First, Its my birthday! Yeah! Another year older, wiser. Like I told my son this morning, a person gets better with age... just like fine wine! 

I am filled with happy/sad emotions, that the year has come to an end.... I completed my challenge! With that I ponder, what is next?
 I will take the next  few days to compile the photographs into a book. That should be great fun looking back at the year that had passed. With that I am hoping to plan the next challenge.

 Secondly,I would like to thank everyone who took time out of their day to read my blog and to check out what kind of photograph I managed to take.

I would also like to thank my family, and friends who helped and encouraged me along the way for 365 days....and I also hope that they didn't mind me being the paparazzi momma!

This morning... Since I was heading out the door to collect mother for her appointments, I would head to Cottonwood Island Park first.

Just letting you all know that at 7:30 am the temperature was -26c! My hair around my face was all white and frosty! Yes, I should of taken a selfie.... :)

This morning, it was -23c temperatures. The sun was shining into the dining room!

I am posting a photo I took today of my mother. This photo was taken at Cottonwood Island Park, with the CN Bridge in the back ground. 

 

What do 'Buttons' and my mother have in Common? 

 

 

 

My mother....  and Buttons (from the sand to the snow)

Answer: As I child I am sure my brothers and I we pushed her buttons all the time! And now as Adults, I am sure she pushes a few of my buttons too! 
I love you mom! 

 Mom spent 2 months in Fiji visiting our brother and his wife.... from +33c then coming home to -30c... awesome mom!

Fav Flower

Day #359

 

 

 

I love flowers.... simply put..I love flowers. The first ones in the spring, wild flowers in the forest. Bouquets from the store, flowers in the garden. I love the apple blossom on the trees as well as the flowers on the berries! 
I have always told my kids, and now also the grand kids, that, I just love dandelions! They were the first flowers the children were allowed to pick by the armfuls! 

It is hard to pick out my fav flower...during this time of year... its is what ever is blooming! 

Favorite flower, growing in its 3rd season, Amaryllis

This is the third season for my Amaryllis to be blooming! I am so excited!! So, for her achievements, she is my favorite flower....until spring... or the next bouquet arrives at the house! :)

Comfort

Day #358

 

 

 

I take comfort in the place I call home. It is not just the house and my neighborhood, my hometown, it is where I call home my home.
 I take comfort that there is an airport in town and a car in my driveway that it can take me out on an adventure, then return me to the comforts of my home.
  I take comfort, that in my home, I have photographs of my loved ones around me, and knowing how much they care and love me. (and I care and love them)
.When I look at the photos, I take comfort that I can remember the events of that day and it brings a smile on my face.
 I take comfort that my coffee in the morning is hot, the sun has risen, I can put my thoughts to paper and get out and tackle the world (with camera in hand). 

 

Comfort

With the comforts of a warm home, food in the pantry, loved ones around me, I am also very lucky and very grateful.

Its not a Potato

Day #357

 

 

 

My photo challenge for today was "Potato".... and I could of taken a photograph 

of the potatoes from our garden

made a delicious dish with it 

and  then taken a picture...

or a close up of McDonald's fries...

 

But, instead

I decided 

it was

Take a Walk Tuesday

and use a photo

from this walk. 

 

Another Chickadee

 

 

Cottonwood Island Park, has received over (just guessing) 100 or more ducks. All 

congregated in a tiny spot of water. 

The parking lots was full of so many people...

and the lens on their cameras are so large!! Words cannot express

how inadequate my small 18-55mm lens must feel!

So,

instead of a photo 

of potatoes

or a flock of 

ducks...

Its a chickadee. 

I like this photo

because he just landed

and evident by his wing action

he is looking at me or the camera

and I like the blurred background.

Small

Day #349

Today's photo challenge is "Small". Yes, its easy just to pick up the camera and take a photo of something small... but as Artists, we are looking for that one thing that is unique, tells a story, shares a memory, creates an emotion. 

Today, we went for a walk at Wilson Park, well.... actually.... on the Nechako River beside Wilson Park. The river was frozen for most part...and we could walk to the island in the middle of the river. Parts of the river was smooth solid ice... there were people skating on the river too!  Parts  of the river, you could see where the ice was pushed up... smooth, blue, some even had sticks and leaves frozen in the ice sculptures!

Mother Nature created this ice sculputure, complete with "Small" bubbles!  

Walking on the river, I felt small and insignificant.... it was such a unique feeling and experience, knowing that when spring comes... winters beauty will be gone, melted away.

    I wanted to get a shot of all the snow that fell and was accumulated on our front yard.

    

   Ground Hog Day!  What was the ground hogs prediction?

      Early spring or a longer winter? 

      I guess we will find out when things start to melt if that little fur ball was right or missed it by a mile!

Date Nite

We had won 2 tickets to see the play, "The Occupation of Heather Rose", at The Theatre Northwest. 

So, for my date with my true love, I fluffed up my hair, put on a wee bit of make up complete with lipstick, and did a little spritz of perfume (a little, was thinking of the other guests!). 

Then I dressed up in my warm winter boots, winter parka, gloves and a scarf and we headed out the door -20+ weather! There I am all dressed ready to attend the Theatre in Prince George, in the middle of winter... not like Broadway at all!! 

Date Nite

My Dream is to visit New York City and go to a play on Broadway.... where I am not wearing my winter boats! Just day dreaming!
